My dog was a problem child. I rescued her at about 8 months old. She’s a Boston and was really insistent about several issues: peeing in the kitchen corner, chewing on my sofa end and just generally being the queen of the land. I heard great stuff about the boarding and training from a girl at work. I had to go away for 10 days so I decided to do the boarding and training they offer at the same time. I wish I'd done it sooner. I came for a free meeting to see the place and was amazsed how calm it was. All the dogs seemed very content to be there. When I got back from my trip I had an hour
of training with my dog molly and the trainer so I knew what to do. But I could tell immediately molly was already more at piece and able to focus on me. They crate-trained her in 10 days and gave me exact measurements for the right crate to buy. Molly hasn’t gone potty in the house since. It is a miracle. The boarding service was great as well. I’ll use it when I travel.

I’d walked by them with my dog lots of times not really sure it was a kennel. After a while I saw enough dogs coming and going I figured it out. I was going in to have back surgery and wanted my dog well tooken care of when I was in the hospital.
I started letting Prince go to daycare so he’d be comfortable when it was time for him to sleep over when I was down and out. He loved the daycare so much I started going twice a week. My major complaint is now I cannot take my dog for walks past their place because he goes crazy with excitement. A minor complaint is he is long haired. He plays so hard he gets knots in his hair and I have to brush him like crazy when I get him home.
When it was time for boarding, Prince was a champ and was used to it. I got a full report and everything was great. I’m glad I finally figured what they did in that house … it’s a great service and I suggest using it.

We fly a lot and we live near the airport. After we used
safejourney several times they suggested using the shuttle service they have so we easily go to the airport wihout having to drive across the city to drop off our dog. when we get home, our retriever, Goldy, is wagging her tail waiting for me like nothing ever happened. It’s super. They bring her back and drop her off in the house just a few hours before we're scheduled to arrive home, this way life is ready for us and we have nothing to do but unpack. We’ve done it several times and it’s worked well. It’s like time stood still in our home, all the while, Goldy was sleeping in another home, playing with all her friends. The facility itself is set up great. All the rooms are like rooms for houses except its all for the dogs. They all dogs seem so content. Its very quiet and the dogs are obviously well cared for. Goldy likes to chase around the yard with her friends and here she can do that there in the yard at safejourney. give them a try.

we started using the boarding service in 2007 when we only had Phelps, our cockapoo. He is very shy and nervous of almost everything, even his shadow. A typical kennel would scar him for life so I searched for something better for my dog and found it at safejourney dog house. It is super clean (my dog is white) and my dog always comes home clean. My dog is nervous of food, literally he sometimes ran away from his dish. The staff here are gentle and give him the time he needs to eat… otherwise he’d go hungry. I’m glad they do this for him.
About 8 months ago Phelps got a sister, who eats everything in site, and has really helped him come out of his shell. They both get to go together now, sleep together on a sofa and have their meals together. They have so much fun at 'camp'. They always come home happy and the staff are great with us too. We use them a lot and they’re great to us.

We go away every holiday season. I have a great dane and a typical kennel is simply not for him. He has personality and needs tender affection. He needs to stretch his legs and play. This last Christmas was something else because of the snow storms. We left about two weeks before Christmas and was to return home on the 23rd. because of the snow we got stuck and our Great Dain had to stay over without notice for several extra days. the staff were very accommodating and understanding about the entire situation. The food I packaged was running low so they took to the store to get more of the brand I use.
It was very helpful to be consistent with my dogs food. I had used them for three Christmases before with only high marks. This last Christmas was the same…it is a great place for my dog and I feel relaxed with him there.

I've been boarding my two miniature poodles Sam and Lady with this business for the past 2 years for a few days to a couple weeks whenever we are out of town. I'd say its been upwards of 10 - 15 times now (I lose track). In any case, my poodles are shy and timid and at first were reticent to stay at SafeJourney as they would be anywhere really. However, now they respond to the place like it's their second home. They just love Dan and Shawn, the owners, and the feelings seem mutual. The place is always clean, especially for a dog facility, and they really do pamper the pets, treating them like house dogs. Sam and Lady, as well as their playmates, have free access to the backyard so they havent developed bad habits like going in the house. They give Sam his meds properly, I know this because the syringe always has the right amount gone (yes I check every time) and he doesn't develop loose stools after being with them, which would happen without his meds. Sam and Lady always seem relaxed and happy when they come home, not exhausted from too much rough housing or depressed from not enough attention (and once they warm up they LOVE attention). We really enjoy these guys and appreciate how they cater to the dogs. We count ourselves lucky to have them around :-)

I looked high and low for a dog care place where my dog would get good care. my dog has diabetes and needs insulin every twelve hours. Its important to me that this happens consistently to keep him healthy.
The last thing I want is to return to a sick dog. they take care of many dogs with diabetes so I was relieved knowing he’d get good care.
They have a former vet tech on staff. One time when he was not drinking enough water he needed to get IV fluids. They did this for me, saving all the extra
vet charges it would have cost me. It was amazing. My dog is always happy when I return and its like I wasn’t even gone. I trust this place completely and the just love the workers. I've used it now for several months for short getaways and longer trips. Its really worked well for us.

Most kennels are noisy and smell like animal shelters. Not at this place! It’s like walking into home. It is super easy to work with them, they love my dog and my dog loves it there. I would do anything for my dog and it makes me feel like I’m giving him the best.
A trainer is on staff and works with the dogs to help reinforce good behaviors. Of course they can be unruly like any other dogs…dogs like that. But inside the dogs get to slumber on the couch front of the fire in the winter and out on the deck to cool off in the summer. My dog loves the outdoors. there is an outdoor yard there.
I’m glad he gets to go potty outside, see squirles and just be dog. I’m also glad he gets to be pampered. He is really special and deserves the best.

I don’t usually write these but I’ve just been so impressed with the care and service my dog receives. It’s that simple. She is happy when she get’s there and happy when she comes home. She is clean and smells great when she returns unlike other places I’ve been too.
the workers here are genuine and you can tell they like the dogs and the dogs like them. at night gina sleeps in the crate I bring for her with the door open so she get out if she likes. that is a great thing to know my dog is comfortable. this is the best kennel type place I’ve used to care for Gena and reccomend it to anyone.

There are several things for which I look when searching out a kennel and this one surpassed all my expectations. It was super clean, the dogs seemed relaxed and generally happy to be there.
My girs drink a lot of water and some kennels seem to have one central watering hole, which doesn't work for one of my dogs because she is gun shy. But safejourey had water throughout the entire house. They managed the dogs with skill and empathy.
They always come home to me smelling great and a bit tuckered out. When I'm home they spend the entire day sleeping, but at safejourney they get to run in the yard and hang out in the sun with their doggy friends.
safejourney was a special help to me when I had surgury on my hip. They would sometimes have the dogs at daycare, sometimes they'd come to me and walk the dogs, it was all so easy and a relief to know my dogs got their needs met while I was down and out. Thank you Safejourney! you guys are great.

I will just put it out there plane and simple, I'm a high needs client. I travel a lot, with lots of changes to my schedule, I always need to change my reservations. I'm not sure how they do it, but they treat me with respect and credit any changes for future use and its easy breezy.
most importantly, my dog loves it. my dog charges in like he owns the place everytime and forgets I'm even there. I don't even need to say goodbye, my dog is already off with his friends and forgets about me...lol but thats why I take him there, so he has a good time. and he always does.
before safejourney, i was always a wreck when I traveled because I worried so much. I don't fret a bit anymore. that is priceless.

I travel a lot and I hate that I have to leave my dog every month for a weekend and often an entire week. I have used many kennels and most have been okay. But using crate-free boarding was an entirely different AND BETTER experience all together.
Going to safejourney is like taking my dogs to my mom’s house or my best friends. It is comfortable and cozy (more so than my own loft).
When my dog returns it’s not like he’s been at a kennel. The transition is perfectly simply and he is just the way he was when I left. It doesn’t take him time to recover, he is calm and seems like he’d like to stay longer ;-)
The owners are the primary care providers for the dogs, they do a fantastic job and have been working with dogs for years.
One time, in a pinch, I needed their service because of a family emergency. They bent over backwards to accommodate my situation, came to my home, picked up my dog and shuttled him to their home. I felt such relief knowing they were there. I cannot say enough great things about them.

I found these guys online almost a year ago when I was waiting for my new puppy to arrive. I knew the date she was coming so I scheduled walking and training right away. Safejourney came every day mon-fri, on time as scheduled and did a great job training her. They work the alarm, were trust worthy and spent a lot of time with my dog at the house. I felt secure the entire time. I've worked with them now for nearly a year and simply adore the service they give me and my dog.
Now I use the daycare service mon-fri and my dog just loves it. She gets to play with her pals all day long in a great house setting. she is shuttled in and back home again so I don't even have to think about it. It is just taken care. I simply love it. On nights I work late, they give her dinner and her pill before bringing her home. It is a fantastic service.
I also use the boarding services when I travel. It a clean, fun, setting with good energy. It's bright and all the dogs seem very content and happy. My girl really likes it and I suggest anyone let their dogs go there.

Three basset hounds came to stay for 5 days. They stayed "cage free" in a lovely home. Each dog has special needs (eye drops, ear drops, special diet, special supplements). Dogs were given the entire downstairs and backyard for play and rest. Backyard is pesticide free - great for my allergic dog. It went extremely well. Safe Journey was given several lists with specific needs for individual dogs. The dogs received EXCELLENT care! All meds were given, dogs returned home happy and healthy and sleepy (from the fun time). Once we met Shawn and his staff we knew Safe Journey would be ideal - and it was! |
